Spectacularly beautiful 103km race with 6200m of climbing in the Beaufort region French Alps. Start was at 4am with a steep 1700m climb, which got us up high before the heat of day. With ~400 racers and 200 volunteers, it is much more "personal" than the large European races. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the organization was superb. Despite being sleep-deprived at the start, and stopping at 50km due to cutoff time (26 hours to finish) I enjoyed every minute out there. A runner who finished told me there were many more beautiful vistas on the rest of course. Maybe I'll return next year, but leave camera behind and try to finish. It is impossible to have a camera and not take many pictures. I also wish I could speak French :-)
