Aurora Borealis, Duluth MN
Time-lapse video at https://vimeo.com/76636653 2 days of business meetings in Duluth, MN, Oct 9-10, 2013 had me flying there the night of the 8th. Having advance notice of possible geomagnetic activity from spaceweather.com, I arrived prepared and drove about 40mi north of Duluth with a colleague/friend navigating, finding (with difficulty) public access to the south shore of Whiteface Reservoir. Tripod-mounted Nikon D800E with 14-24mm lens at 14mm, f/2.8. The video has 143 frames of 10sec every 12sec (ISO 3200) and 62 frames of 20sec every 21sec (ISO 1600). The latter set has the frames spaced about twice as far apart to make the apparent motion speed about the same for both sets. All frames in the time-lapse were shot from 1:54-3:33am CDT, or 06:54-08:33 UTC.
